Teaching and Learning From Christians

Course Type and Duration:

Pre-residential study, followed by an intensive weekend residential program at  Yerrinbool Bahá’í Centre of Learning, followed by post residential for 6 months

Aim of the Course: 

To develop an understanding of the relationship between Christianity and the Bahá’í Faith, specifically: The beliefs of Christianity; Related beliefs of the Bahá’í Faith; and How to bring the two together.

Course Outline:

This course is primarily for Bahá’ís who wish to understand more about the beliefs of their Christian neighbours and how to relate to both the believers and the beliefs. As a result of completing this course, participants will have:

  • Developed a deep understanding of the life of Christ and His teachings;
  • Developed a broader picture of the type of beliefs that constitute
  • Christianity and gained an awareness of the perspectives that Christians have of their own religion;
  • Understood how communication must be adapted to the specific beliefs and needs of each Christian;
  • An improved ability to interact with Christians of many denominations; and
  • Increased skills in relating the Bahá’í Faith to Christians

Textbooks: 

The course fee includes a resource book. However students should acquire their own Bible. The NIV Study Bible is recommended as it contains a chronology and useful notes, maps and a concordance. Access to a good library of Bahá’í books would also be helpful.

Pre-residential:

  • Exploring the Bible 
  • Christ's references to Bahá'u'lláh 
  • Bahá'u'lláh's references to Christ. 
Residential:
  • Approaches to the dialogue 
  • Getting to know the Bible 
  • Basic Christian Beliefs 
  • History of Bahá’í Christian Dialogue 
  • Workshops: specific beliefs of significant Christian denominations 
Post-residential:
  • Survey and analysis of Christian beliefs in your region 
  • Initiating a dialogue in your region 

Application

You can apply for the course online or off-line. When applying off-line, you need to print the application form, fill it up and send it to the Programs Administrator by mail or fax. If you pay your fee by a cheque, it needs to be in Australian Dollar and payable to Yerrinbool  Bahá’í Centre of Learning. To enroll online, fill out the online application form.
